Hazard warning light manufacturer to shut East Yorks factory in Leeds relocation plan

A COMPANY which makes vehicle hazard warning lights is to close its factory in Bridlington and relocate to Leeds.

Ecco Safety Group (ESG) said 154 workers would be affected by the move which is expected to take place by March 2107, BBC News reported.

ESG said it was discussing relocation and redundancy options with its staff.

The firm said the decision was made to consolidate running costs and to move closer to “some of the top UK technical universities”.

Robert Campbell, ESG’s European managing director, told the BBC: “Unfortunately, some of the current buildings on the Bridlington site are unsuitable for where our business wants to be in coming years.

“The most viable option to secure the company and set it on a platform for growth is to relocate to Leeds.”
