5 things to do in Yorkshire this weekend

JUST because it’s Halloween doesn’t mean you need to do something spooky, here are a few things you could try in the neighbouring cities this weekend.
1. Chinese State Circus
Date: Thursday 27th – Sunday 30th October
Location: Harewood House, Leeds
The internationally acclaimed Chinese State Circus is returning to Leeds with a new production, Dynasty. 30 world-class Chinese acrobats, aerial artistes, and jugglers will be showing off their super-human physical skills. The masters of martial arts, the legendary Shaolin Warriors will also be performing.
The show has been described as ‘the most honest, awe-inspiring and exhilarating circus it has ever been my privilege to see’ by the Evening Standard.
2. Street City Night Festival
Date: Friday 28th – Saturday 29th October
Location: Ecclesall Road, Sheffield
The grand opening of Street City, Sheffield’s Street Food Night Festival will be launching this weekend with a special Halloween themed event. Guests can expect a collection of the UKs best street food vendors, a selection of cocktails, craft ales and prosecco, live bands, DJs, magicians, a fancy dress competition for the kids, two firework displays and a few spooky surprises too! 3. A Night of Soul
Date: Saturday 29th October
Locaiton: Hull City Hall
From 9pm – 2am, Hull’s City Hall will be filled with the calming sounds of Soul, Motown and even some modern soul classics as well. DJs Kev Roberts, Ginger Taylor, John Kane of BBC Sheffield/Leeds, Ricky Jay, Steve Woomble, Snowy, Andy Bellwood and Chris Dalton will all be performing in the various rooms of the civic building.
4. Illuminating York Festival
Date: Wednesday 26th – Saturday 29th October
Location: Various locations across York
Illuminating York is inviting guests to explore and discover the city of York through the imagination of artists, using the medium of light in all its forms. This year the festival will open up some of York’s most famous, interesting and intriguing buildings by night, offering a completely different experience to its guests. The great outdoors, buildings, spaces and places will be hosting installations using light and projection.
5. Murder Mystery
Date: Friday 28th October
Location: The Grainary, Scarborough
The farm’s first ever murder mystery night will be taking place this Friday, with a distinctive Halloween theme to it. Tickets include entertainment by Limelight company and a meal cooked by Head chef, Dan Hargreaves.
