Chinese restaurant with a twist comes to Leeds

A RESTAURANT specialising in Far East cuisine has launched at West Point in Leeds and it’s a far cry from your average takeaway.

Mans Market opened this week, providing 100 covers in the unique basement space next to Primo’s, across from Central Square on Whitehall Road.

Entrepreneur Ray Chan is behind the new venture, which aims to make quality Chinese food healthier, having grown up in a more traditional takeaway establishment. He is also behind music and events business Candypants, which organises club nights from Leeds to Marbella.

Visits to Hong Kong and New York informed his vision for a new way to eat Chinese food, which has become a staple takeaway in Britain.

“Having grown up in a Chinese takeaway I’m really excited about reinventing and reinvigorating Chinese dining in Leeds,” he said. “I’ve been watching the market for years whilst working in the nightlife industry with Candypants, and I feel now is the perfect time to bring Mans Market to life.”

The menu includes traditional favourites including crispy aromatic duck rolls, sweet and sour chicken made fresh and healthy, with new additions including firecracker prawns to spice up the menu, as well as its signature dish, Mans Mountain Rice.
