Boutique hotel proposed for Bradford’s oldest street

A BOUTIQUE hotel has been proposed at the site of a former pub and charity shop on Bradford’s oldest street.

The application by David Craig Design Consultancy for 21-23 Ivegate in the centre of Bradford is asking to create an 11-bed boutique hotel with a bar, restaurant and check-in facilities on the ground floor.

Independent companies Ivegate House Ltd and Ivegate Bar Ltd, have applied for a change of use for the site from a former charity shop and current pop up bar. The site was also previously used as a pub and gaming arcade with extra rooms on the upper floors.

Ivegate is Bradford’s oldest street but has been neglected for decades and though not listed, the site is in a city centre conservation area.

If approved the upper floors will contain the hotel with a permanent restaurant and bar replacing the current pop up bar at the site, requiring minor amendments.
