Former nightclub transformed into mental health hub

A FORMER nightclub has reopened as an NHS health and wellbeing centre after being redeveloped with the backing of a £2.1m finance deal.

The former Quest nightclub in Wakefield has reopened as The Drury Lane Health and Wellbeing Centre, a two-storey hub that will site 200 NHS staff and house clinical facilities for all ages.

Redevelopment of the site by Quest Property began at the start of 2016 after the developer secured the finance package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking.

The South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has now taken a 15-year lease on the building. The facility will bring together different mental health services previously spread out across the region.

Matthew Stephens, development director at Quest Property, said: “Not only will the new health centre improve patient access to important clinical facilities, but it will also bring jobs to Wakefield and serve towards the towns regeneration.

“While some other banks wouldn’t support the project, Lloyds Bank was very helpful from the offset. The finance and advice has been crucial in allowing us, working alongside the Trust, to breathe new life into what was a redundant space.”

Richard Butterfield, relationship director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “With services including dementia support and learning disabilities services, the new facility is sure to be highly beneficial to the local community.”
