Green light for North Yorkshire holiday park

PLANNERS have given the go-ahead for a £3m holiday park in North Yorkshire near two popular market towns.

Hambleton District Council has approved plans for Angrove Country Park between Stokesley and Great Ayton.

Alan Petch re-submitted his plans having withdrawn his previous application following concerns from local residents.

After consulting with Hambleton District Council, residents, local businesses and Stokesley and Great Ayton Parish Councils, Mr Petch re-submitted a reduced scheme for 54 chalets, scaled down from the original application for 179.

These have been approved by council bosses and work will get underway in the spring.

The development will be located on the Coast to Coast cycle route and aims to help safeguard the route of the proposed Endeavour Way, a much-anticipated route for cyclists and walkers between Great Ayton and Stokesley.

Mr Petch said: “We are overjoyed to finally have these plans approved as we started initial consultations in October 2014. We have been overwhelmed by the support of local residents, businesses and councils and would like to thank everyone for their enthusiasm.

“We’re looking forward to now taking Angrove Country Park forward and making a real difference to local towns and villages in the Hambleton area, ensuring that these plans benefit the whole community.

“We spent a lot time revising the scheme and we’re excited to be able to provide a boost for tourism and jobs in the area with a picturesque and spacious country park.”
