£34m North Yorkshire development gets underway

Work has begun on a £34m residential development at Stamford Bridge near York.
Housebuilder Avant Homes has bought a 16-acre site off Roman Road. It has now begun building 120 homes on the site: a mixture of three, four and five bedroom properties.
Site clearance and ground remodelling works are complete and construction of the first phase of plots is now underway
The full build programme is expected to take approximately three years.
Avant Homes’ Yorkshire managing director, Mark Mitchell, said: “We are very pleased to reveal our plans for this new development, which will be our first in York since 2014. Stamford Bridge is a very desirable location and we expect many of the homes on phase one to sell off-plan. Works have begun in earnest and we expect the first homes to be ready for occupation by the end of May 2017.”
Based in Wakefield, Avant Homes Yorkshire is an operating company of the Avant Homes group, one of the leading private developers of residential property in the UK.
The Avant Homes group employs 575 people and has four regional offices in Scotland, the north east of England, Yorkshire and the Midlands.
