People: Former PwC partner joins The Works; Sanderson Weatherall makes partner promotion; and more

Former PwC corporate finance partner Stuart Warriner has joined the board of discount retailer The Works.

Warriner retired last month after 30 years at PwC, which included 10 years leading its corporate finance team in the North of England from Leeds and Manchester.

Warriner joins The Works’ board led by Dean Hoyle, founder of Card Factory, with the store portfolio having grown close to 400 and with an established trend of rising sales and profit.

Hoyle said: “Stuart is a highly respected corporate finance specialist. His decision to join The Works is a real coup for us and is testament to the strength and continued growth potential of this business.”

James McKelvie Sanderson WeatherallProperty consultancy Sanderson Weatherall has made healthcare sector specialist James McKelvie a partner in its Leeds office.

McKelvie, who previously worked as director at JLL, has 25 years’ experience in surveying and specialist healthcare property valuations.

His areas of expertise are valuation for loan security, company purposes and partnership agreements for providers and operators of care homes, nurseries and primary medical care.

Ian Naylor, head of valuation at Sanderson Weatherall, said: “James has worked for many of the major national and regional operators and has a wealth of market knowledge. This experience, along with his reputation for personal and approachable advice, will bolster our valuation team and contribute to its continued growth in the healthcare sector.”

Orion Homes has welcomed Ged Collingwood on board as land and planning managerHorbury-based housebuilder Orion Homes has welcomed Ged Collingwood on board as land and planning manager.

Collingwood brings a wealth of experience gained through previous roles with various regional and national housebuilders, most recently in a similar position at Avant Homes.

He will now be overseeing all aspects of land acquisition and development planning for potential sites.

He said: “The management team has outstanding knowledge of the region and securing prime development land has always been one of the company’s key strengths. Craig Bagley Companion StairliftsLeeds-based Companion Stairlifts and Bathing has made a senior hire.

Craig Bagley is the new senior operations manager responsible for improving efficiency as the company embarks on the next phase of its expansion.

Companion provides stairlifts and assisted bathing solutions throughout the UK, as a result of both direct advertising and also via their partnerships with nationwide mobility retailers.

Bagley has joined the company as it announces ambitious growth plans to increase its share of the daily living aids market. He has extensive experience of increasing productivity for large corporates gained during his time working with British Gas, both in the UK and overseas.
