Green light for £130m university projects

Plans for a £130m residential site and a sports facility for the University of Hull have been given the go-ahead.
The residential development will provide apartments for a further 1,462 students, and received unanimous approval from Hull City Council.
The University of Hull is working with University Partnerships Programme (UPP) who will raise the required investment and handle the design, construction and operation of the project. The construction value of the project is more than £80m.
The University is also investing close to £16m in new sports facilities, including a new floodlit outdoor pitch, gym, fitness studios and a 12-court sports hall with seating for 700, which has also just received planning permission.
The investment in sports and leisure facilities i already underway, funded partially by a £500,000 donation from the Premier League and the FA Facilities Fund.

The scheme is in addition to the £200m investment programme, already underway, which includes new and refurbished buildings, IT infrastructure and student services.
The project is one of several significant investments at the University, including: The Courtyard, a £30m development of accommodation for 562 students on campus; a £28m Health Campus currently under construction; and a £7m refurbishment of dining and conferencing facilities on campus.
