Healthcare company acquires site for care home development

Developer Oakapple Group has sold part of an Ilkley mixed-use scheme to a Leeds healthcare business.

Springfield Healthcare has bought the site on Mayfield Road in Ilkley. It will develop it into a 77-room care facility, similar to its schemes in Beverley, Harrogate, Leeds and York.

It will grow the portfolio of the Leeds-based business to 560 rooms across five locations by 2018.

In addition to the 29,801 sq ft care home, Oakapple Group is developing approximately 30,000 sq ft of office space on the site, with a 9,000 sq ft pre-let to SmartSearch already in place .

Oakapple Group’s chairman Philip Taylor said “We are delighted to have completed a sale of part of the site to Springfield Health Care and expect to make a further announcement on a second significant pre-letting of the offices shortly.”

Construction of both the offices and care home will start this spring.
