Newly-listed cyber security firm opens Bradford operations centre

Newly-listed cyber security business ECSC has launched a security operations centre at its HQ as it looks to grow further.

Bradford-based ECSC will officially launch the site on Friday 17 March, after receiving assistance from Bradford Council’s City Centre Growth Zone Scheme.

The scheme awarded ECSC a Growth Zone Business Rate Rebate from 2013 to 2016, and the company has recently gone from having 50 members of staff to 100.

The company plans to double this in the coming year.

ECSC already counts 10% of the FTSE100 as clients, and operates across 20 countries.

Ian Mann, CEO of ECSC Group plc, said: “Bradford is a great place to do business and I am very appreciative of the support received from Bradford Council’s City Centre Growth Zone Business Rate Rebate scheme. This support came at a key stage in the growth of the business and has helped with our further expansion.”

“It is hoped that the existing relationship we have with Bradford Council will continue to develop and that, in partnership with the wider Leeds City Region LEP, we will be able to grow the business further.

“Our services include incident response to hacking attacks, testing for threats, and managing company security systems; with high-profile cyber incidents hitting the headlines over the past few years, these services have been vital. Next year, Britain will be subject to an EU-wide directive that suggests companies will be fined four per cent of their turnover if their data is hacked. This increases the pressure on companies to tighten up their cyber security and opens up a wider market for us.”

Coun Alex Ross-Shaw, executive member for Regeneration, Planning and Transport at Bradford Council, said: “The various elements of our City Centre Growth Zone Scheme have helped lots of businesses in the past few years to expand and develop. We are delighted that ECSC have been able to use the support we’ve given to help them to progress their business and open this new Security Operations Centre in Bradford.”
