Data management firm scoops industry accolade

SOWERBY Bridge-based database management company The Trading Floor has been named as Data Provider of the Year at the 2008 Data Strategy Awards.

The company, which supplies consumer data to the insurance and financial sectors as well as a variety of other industries, won the accolade for enabling contributing companies to monetise their data assets through the resale and provision of marketing information to other third parties.

The Trading Floor’s highly detailed transactional database consists of more than 14 million UK consumers specialising in detailed information such as the types of vehicle people drive or even where they shop so advertising campaigns can be completely targeted towards a very specific audience.

Since it was established in 2005, the company has gone through a rapid expansion programme and now has a turnover of over £5m and employs a 28 strong team.

Chris McDonald, managing director at The Trading Floor said: “Last year we were runners-up in this category and are absolutely delighted to have returned this year and won this award.

“We are a relatively new company and to beat many of the well-established players in this sector after such a short space of time is a major achievement.”
