Appointments: Deloitte adds to reorganisation services team; Berwins boosts commercial property unit; and more

BUSINESS advisory firm Deloitte has strengthened its reorganisation services team in Leeds.

With the recent appointments of Martin Barron as associate partner and Kristian Shuttleworth as director, the team now comprises four partners, supported by two directors.

A further three assistant managers have also joined the Leeds office.

Having worked in the restructuring market in Yorkshire and the North East for the past 12 years, Mr Barron will lead Deloitte’s local corporate advisory offering, assisting companies with cash and working capital optimisation, turnaround planning, distressed debt advisory, performance improvement, financial and operational restructuring.

Mr Shuttleworth will lead and deliver creditor led advisory, restructuring and insolvency cases.

Berwins Emily WheatleyBERWINS Solicitors has strengthened its commercial property unit with the appointment of solicitor Emily Wheatley.

Ms Wheatley previously worked in commercial property and construction litigation at the Leeds office of Addleshaw Goddard and is an active member of the Yorkshire and North East division of Women in Property.

She will work alongside Sophie Barton at Berwins as the Harrogate firm prepares to expand its commercial property division.

A keen networker, Ms Wheatley is planning a number of events in North Yorkshire this autumn specifically for those working in local property and has launched a social committee at Berwins.

Howard Roberts Schofield SweeneyLEEDS and Bradford solicitors Schofield Sweeney has extended its range of commercial law services by launching a corporate recovery and insolvency department.

Leading insolvency lawyer Howard Roberts has been brought in by the firm as a partner to head up the department.

The new department will deal with a broad range of corporate and personal insolvency matters, advising directors, insolvency practitioners and financiers and other individuals who face insolvency in their business or personal life.

Mr Roberts has more than 15 years’ commercial law experience in the UK and the Cayman Islands.

He is a licensed insolvency practitioner and a solicitor advocate with higher court rights.

He is also an accredited mediator and a member of the Cayman Islands Bar.
