Yorkshire group BES signs Alliance Boots deal

A YORKSHIRE property compliance firm has won a contract to supply energy performance certificates (EPCs) to pharmacy and health and beauty giant Alliance Boots.
Huddersfield-based property compliance specialist BES Consulting will work across Alliance Boots’ property portfolio nationwide and follows its £1m investment in building the country’s largest field-based team of EPC-qualified surveyors.
The first Alliance Boots properties to be surveyed by BES Consulting include offices, warehouses and residential flats located above stores.
EPCs are a new a legal requirement for any commercial building that is let or sold.
BES Consulting recently announced that it has won major deals to supply the certificates to national pubs chains including Marston’s and Punch Taverns.
The company, which has offices and surveyors across the UK, provides management solutions for statutory property compliance.
It works on some of the country’s largest commercial property estates, including most of the top 10 pub chains, and has helped companies to cut energy costs by up to 30%.
“It was clear to me that we needed specialists to support the group with these new certificates,” said Jean Waring-Thomas, energy manager at Boots UK.
“By working with BES Consulting we not only receive the certificates but we also get true and useful recommendations about how we can improve the energy performance of our properties.”
BES Consulting is headed by chief executive Ian Kelly, who has experience of running venture capital-backed businesses and led a management buy-in of BES in June 2008.
BES Consulting provides integrated managed services covering areas such as legionella, fire, asbestos, health and safety, EPCs and display energy certificates.
