Free financial health check is helping firms beat the downturn

A BUSINESS Link initiative to provide Yorkshire businesses with free finance advice is proving a huge success, according to chartered accountants Clough & Company.
The Cleckheaton-based firm, which is an approved Business Link supplier, has reported a fast take-up of the scheme which is offering companies a free ‘financial health check’ worth up to £2,000.
The innovative advice service has been designed to give companies a comprehensive understanding of their financial situation through a full business assessment which includes looking at a company’s revenue, cash flow performance and costs of overheads and sales.
The Yorkshire Forward financed scheme is open to businesses in Yorkshire that have been trading for a minimum of 12 months and employ at least five staff. It is expected to finish in February.
Nigel Bullas, a partner at Clough & Company said: “In the current recession it is imperative that businesses do all that they can to make sure they are financially secure.
“The financial health check is the ideal way of helping companies understand their financial situation and whether or not they need to implement any changes in order to generate healthy sales and steady growth.”
Mr Bullas added that the free advice effectively provided firms with a robust financial plan that wouldl help protect and prepare them for any challenges they may face in the changing economic climate and ensure they were ready for the upturn.
To apply companies can either consult their existing accountancy firm or if they feel like they need a fresh pair of eyes Business Link Yorkshire can advise them of a local approved accountancy supplier.
