Premier Foods confirms approaches for meat-free business

PREMIER Foods today reacted to press speculation of interest from the likes of Nestle in its meat substitute Quorn by confirming a number of approaches have been made.

The group said as announced on October 3, it had received approaches for its meat-free business, including Quorn, which is based in Stokesley, North Yorkshire.

Premier Foods said it had received bids from a number of parties, including multinational food groups and private equity firms.

Discussions are proceeding and are at an advanced stage with two parties.

There can be no guarantee that a sale of its meat-free business will take place, Premier Foods said.

Further announcements will be made as and when appropriate, the group, which includes Hovis Bread and Branston Pickle among its stable of products, added.
