George is a partner in our real estate practice. His particular area of expertise is in dealing with real estate transactions in the retail sector. He acts for a number of well known national retailers and also for investors in shopping centre assets.
Examples of George’s recent experience include:
– Advising on several acquisitions of new food stores for a national supermarket. These are high value and complex transactions where the project value is regularly in excess of £40 million.
– Acting for national furniture retailer on its ongoing roll out and store acquisition programme.
– Acting for a high profile national retailer on the development of a former warehouse as a new concept store. The transaction involved funding via a linked sale and leaseback transaction together with detailed negotiations with the HCA regarding historic development obligations.
– Advising on a proposed major redevelopment of a large city centre shopping centre. George’s team have acted on the management of the centre for a number of years having been retained by the new investor following on from acting on the sale by the previous owner.
