Clarion pledges to raise £10,000 for St Gemma’s Hospice
Leeds law firm Clarion has chosen St Gemma’s Hospice as its nominated charity and the 193 strong team has pledged to raise £10,000 for the Moortown hospice over the next 18 months.
The biggest hospice in Yorkshire and one of the largest in the UK, St Gemma’s Hospice has long-established links with Clarion.
Clarion’s new charity committee is working with colleagues to plan a diverse range of fundraising activities from raffles, dress down days and bake-offs to a sponsored row across Windemere, and a charity skydive. The Clarion team will also be supporting many of the events organised by St Gemma’s such as its Bark in the Park dog walk and the Leeds Bubble Rush 5k run.
“Having enjoyed a long-standing relationship with St Gemma’s, we are really pleased to again be supporting this fantastic charity,” comments Lindsay Texel, partner in Clarion’s Real Estate team who is leading the firm’s fund-raising initiative. “Giving back to the local community is part of the Clarion ethos and our fundraising activities have grown to such an extent that we have this year set up a dedicated charity committee, manned by lots of enthusiastic colleagues from across the business.
“St Gemma’s carries out truly amazing work, providing vital support to patients and their families. Knowing that their efforts will help such a life-changing charity will inspire the Clarion team to go that extra mile.”

All care and support provided by the hospice is free of charge, so we rely heavily on local fundraising such as this. St Gemma’s Hospice provides expert care and support for local people with life-limiting illnesses and last year celebrated its 40th anniversary. As well as providing care to patients and their carers in the hospice’s 32 bed in-patient unit and through the St Gemma’s community team, the charity also offers day services including a day hospice and out-patient department. In the year 2017/18, the hospice received 1313 patient referrals and handled 538 in-patient admissions and the St Gemma’s community team of nurses and doctors made over 5,682 visits to patients in their own homes.
