Apprenticeship training firm opens in Derby

A new apprentice training provider has moved into a 7,134 sq ft premises in 20 Downing Road, Derby.

The National Construction Academy (NCA) a partnership of training firm 3aaa and Ian Hodgkinson of Hodgkinson Builders, will work with local employers to deliver construction-focused training for apprentices looking towards a career in the industry.

Tom Marples, head of NCA, said: “The move will give young people in the Derby area access to improved training in apprenticeships and traineeships for the construction industry. The centre will positively benefit the community and also help to bridge the challenging skills gap that exists in the construction industry.

“The first course we will be launching in Derby is bricklaying with a view that we will be able to deliver more programmes after the launch of the training centre.”

The letting of the premises was overseen by Stuart Waite, associate director at Innes England’s Derby office.

Stuart said: “The space meets the needs of NCA perfectly as the property, on the established West Meadows Industrial Estate, has previously been used as a training centre so is well equipped.

“The property is in a well-established commercial location with excellent access to Derby’s road network via the Pentagon Island linking to the A52 and the inner ring road into the city centre.

“We are very pleased to have agreed a deal with NCA and help facilitate its expansion across the UK.”
