5 things to do in the East Midlands this weekend

Cycle Live Nottingham
Grab your bike and get involved at this year’s Cycle Live in Nottingham on Sunday. Starting at Victoria Embankment, those taking part can choose between The Sheriff, which is 125 miles, The Little John, which is 100 miles, The Maid Marian, which is 75 miles, The Friar Tuck, which is 50 miles and The Robin Hood, which is 25 miles. Forest Live 2017
Sherwood Pines Forest is set to come to life this weekend with music from some of the UK’s biggest acts. Forest Live will see Olly Murs take to the stage, with special guest fellow X Factor star Louisa Johnson, on Friday. Saturday will see the legend himself Tom Jones sing his classic hits, including ‘It’s Not Unusual’ and ‘Delilah’ before Elbow headline the festival on Sunday. Find out more here.

Lord Mayor’s Parade
Head along to the Council House in Nottingham on Saturday to take part in the ceremonial parade from there to Nottingham Castle. The castle will be hosting a day of free activities for the whole family to get involved in, including stalls and live music and entertainment to enjoy. Trainspotting Live
Trainspotting Live will take to the stage at Leicester’s Curve Theatre this weekend. The famous novel and classic film will be brought to life on stage, including the notorious ‘worst toilet in Scotland’ scene. Armed Forces Weekend
Armed Forces Day will be celebrated at Bridgford Park in Nottingham on Saturday. The day is set to have everything from family fun activities, including fairground rides and garden games, as well as the annual ‘Proms in the Park’ concert, which will see local singers and bands take to the stage throughout the day.
