Three major Derby schemes get green light
A trio of developments has been granted planning permission by Derby City Council.
Wheeldon Homes is set to build a five storey apartment block next to the River Derwent. The development will house 33 apartments and will occupy a former metalworks site on the corner of Mansfield Road and Fox Street.
The development has been designed by Matthew Montague Architects.
A scheme designed by Simon Foote Architects also gained planning permission. The development will see 39 upmarket student apartments built on the former Samways Cycle store on Ashbourne Road.

A spokesperson for the planning department at Derby City Council said: “The location is appropriate for providing bespoke student accommodation. It is within the identified University Quarter and has good access to university sites, as well as to other local services and facilities and to the city centre.”
Finally, plans for 122 apartments off Raynesway on the city’s southside, have also been approved.
Entrada Derby
The scheme, called Entrada Derby, will be developed by Blom International – a developer from the Netherlands, and was designed in partnership with Justin Smith Architects.
Marketing Derby first met Blom at MIPIM two years ago.

“The units would be constructed entirely from concrete off-site which makes them incredibly well-insulated, soundproof and spacious, as all the pipes and electric are built into the walls. The components are then assembled on-site.
“It is an incredibly innovative, green scheme that is unlike anything else in the Midlands.
“It would provide residents with significantly reduced energy costs in an impressive and unique environment at an important gateway into the city.”
