Construction has begun on Broadnook Garden Village, Leicestershire’s first ‘garden village’ marked by a Hollywood-inspired 9ft landmark sign of the development’s name, Broadnook.

Situated on the outskirts of the National Forest of Charnwood, the village aims to blend elements from neighbouring Charnwood villages into the new community.

With a total investment of £32.6m, including funding for local schools, Broadnook Garden Village plans to build over 1,900 homes.

Some 50% of the area is said to be devoted to parks, meadows, tree-lined walks, parks, allotments, play areas, and sports pitches.

Broadnook Garden Village will also feature amenities like a primary school, retail shops, care facilities, and a GP practice.

Iain Pickering, design director at Davidsons Homes said: “We are creating Broadnook Garden Village without losing sight of how we all want to live: as part of a thriving community that feels modern and connected, yet firmly rooted in the beautiful nature that we are lucky enough to enjoy in Charnwood.”
