Prominent Nottingham bar in sudden closure

Saltwater closed last month

One of the pioneers of the Nottingham city centre bar boom has closed down, it has emerged.

Rocket at Saltwater, which opened back in 2002 and was based in The Cornerhouse leisure complex, announced it was closing via its Twitter feed.

The Nottingham Post is reporting that 12 jobs are affected.

Rocket at Saltwater has been up for sale since April after, and earlier this year its owners axed its restaurant to concentrate on its drinks. Over the years, the bar, owned by James Horler, had become renowned for its rooftop terrace, making it one of the most popular venues in Nottingham.

It is reported that the bar has been sold to a new operator.
