Fenwick building back on the market as funder pulls out

The former Fenwick building in Leicester is back on the market, put a block on the redevlopment of the iconic city centre building.

Developer Aimrok had received planning permission to turn the former department store into a 92-bedroom hotel together with rooftop bar, but the funder of the project has dramatically pulled out of the deal.

The scheme would have provided jobs for 150 people.

An Aimrok Holdings spokesperson told TheBusinessDesk.com: “Unfortunately, the partner who was going to provide the seed capital for the boutique Aparthotel in the former Fenwick building in Leicester has let us down. Without this investment, the project is no longer viable and regretfully, we have had to take the decision to sell the building. We would like to thank Leicester City Council and our project partners for their support throughout and we hope to see this landmark building restored in the future.”
