The new managing director of The Nottinghamshire Golf Club says she wants to build on what has been a strong period of growth under former MD Bill Mackenzie, who is retiring after seven years.

Amanda Fletcher will combine her new role at The Nottinghamshire, owned by entrepreneur Alan Hardy, with the position of operations director at Meadow Lane whilst continuing her board responsibilities.

Fletcher, who officially takes up her new role at The Nottinghamshire on 3 September, said:

“I am looking forward to combining my exciting new role at Meadow Lane with the brilliant opportunity at the Nottinghamshire, the only 36-hole championship course in Nottingham which also boasts a 30- bedroom boutique hotel with extensive facilities”

“As a passionate sports fan this has underpinned my drive and ambition within the sports & leisure business for the last 23 years, enjoying a progressive career as both a venue manager and multi-site/account manager/director within a range of sport including football, cricket, horse racing, rugby, golf, tennis and green field events.

Now, Fletcher, a lifelong Notts County fan who also enjoys a round of golf, says she wants to bring her experience of building the commercial arm at Meadow Lane to The Nottinghamshire.

“We need to start leveraging the golf club’s brand. Golf is golf, but it’s my mission to drive other revenue lines and to raise the profile of the club within a number of corporate sectors.”

The Nottinghamshire which already caters for over 100 weddings a year, recently underwent a £2m expansion which increased the number of rooms at the club’s on-site hotel The Residence from 18 to 30 and also saw an extensive redevelopment of the clubhouse.

There is also a new first tee complex which will act as the stage for golfers to start their round on the ‘Championship’ course playing a par four hole that is being developed to be one of the most challenging holes on the 36-hole complex.

Fletcher puts much of her recent success down the guidance of Hardy. She said: “He’s a strong and inspirational leader, but he trusts someone to do the job and gives them complete autonomy to go on and be successful. I’ve benefited so much professionally from working with him and cannot wait to enter the next stage of the journey.

Notts chairman and owner Alan Hardy said: “Amanda becoming the new managing director of The Nottinghamshire, following the retirement of Bill Mackenzie, is a natural transition for both her and myself.

“Having achieved great commercial success at Meadow Lane, I have no doubt she is the right person to lead The Nottinghamshire following its recent £2million investment.

“Amanda has done a great job since joining the Notts County board last June and will continue to be a crucial figure at Meadow Lane.

“Her delivery of our commercial, hospitality and events platform has been phenomenal and, in her new role as operations director, she will continue to play a key strategic role to ensure the effective delivery of the club’s operations functions.”
