Nottingham’s only DJ Academy has a new headquarters after a deal completed by commercial property specialists NG Chartered Surveyors.

Four Four DJ Academy has moved into the second floor of the National Justice Museum after a “substantial” investment in the historic premises, including commissioning street artists to decorate spaces and installing mixing desks, DJ decks and sound equipment.

Charlie Fletcher, who set up Four Four DJ Academy with friends Scott Warren and Charlie Clay, said: “We chose the National Justice Museum because it was central and the space was exactly what we were looking for. The staff at the Museum were very helpful and we have established a great working relationship with them.

“The move will help us to establish ourselves as an Academy and plant roots in Nottingham’s music scene and the burgeoning Creative Quarter. We will be offering a wide range of courses for all ages and abilities, including taster sessions for those who want to spend a day learning the basics, as well as full courses for those seeking a career in the industry. We also offer music production facilities which can be hired out.

“The property deal was very smooth; it took six weeks from viewing the property to signing our contract. Jonathan was very helpful and moved things along for us. We were very impressed by NG Chartered Surveyors and their service.”

Jonathon Seddon, director at NG Chartered Surveyors, worked with National Justice Museum chief executive Victoria Reeves to secure the deal to bring Four Four DJ Academy to the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter.

He said: “Working with Victoria has been great as she has shared my vision that the ancillary commercial spaces of the Museum could be a thriving hub for the creative industries, given its location at the very centre of the Creative Quarter.

“You can’t get much more creative than what the Four Four Music School are about and, given the names of some of the DJs who’ll be giving masterclasses, it’s a fantastic addition to the city.

“This is a true case of a landlord and tenant working collectively for the greater good and I’m confident that it will be a huge success.”

Victoria Reeves added: “We’re delighted to welcome Four Four DJ Academy to the Museum. They bring a truly contemporary edge to what’s on offer at this historic site, just as the Museum moves in exciting new directions with a dynamic programme of events and exhibitions to attract a more diverse range of visitors than ever before.”
