Manchester to get another up-market hotel

Developer Capital&Centric has announced plans for a new hotel in Manchester city centre.

The firm is building a new hotel near Piccadilly station and it will be the latest opening in the city.

The developer has announced plans for Fattal Hotel Group to acquire a turnkey hotel development on Adair Street.

It will be the firm’s second deal in Manchester following its purchase of the Midland Hotel in October.

The 275-bedroom Leonardo hotel will feature a striking design, with lush greenery adorning the exterior of the building.

It will also have extensive public areas, with a restaurant and bar spilling overlooking a new public square.

The deal is part of the developer’s wider vision to transform the growth area around Piccadilly station.

The regeneration specialist is already on site at nearby Crusader Mill, which is being restored into apartments reserved solely for owner occupiers in order to create a long term community.

The firm also has ambitions to build more offices, hotels, cafes and bars.

The hotel could open by early 2021, with Capital&Centric preparing plans to submit to Manchester City Council.

A public consultation will be held at the Crusader Mill loft shop on Chapeltown Street on 9th January from 12pm until 7pm.

Working with Leonardo Hotels and architect Stephenson Studio the developer plans to create a contemporary lifestyle brand for the 110,000 sqft development on the corner of Adair Street and Great Ancoats Street.

The Adair Street hotel is part of the Fattal Group’s continued expansion in the UK, which is managed though Jurys Inn and Leonardo Hotels UK and Ireland, which currently operates 45 hotels (36 under the Jurys Inn brand and nine hotels under the Leonardo brand) – 40 of which are in the UK, four in Ireland, and one in Prague.

Earlier this year Manchester City Council approved a Strategic Regeneration Framework (SRF) for the area, with the intention to transform the area into a new urban quarter that will provide a mix of commercial and residential uses with ground floor activity that will directly interface with the new public squares and gardens.

Adair Street is the second hotel in the area for Capital&Centric who is currently on site delivering The London Warehouse – the multi-million pound transformation of the former Place Aparthotel on Ducie Street, set to open in Spring 2019.

CBRE Hotels advised on the transaction for Capital&Centric.
