Lancashire County Cricket posts a loss

LANCASHIRE County Cricket Club posted an annual loss of £546,000 last year.

Chief executive Jim Cumbes told journalists the club has debts of £15m, largely due to the redevelopment of Old Trafford.

He believes the finances are covered by the club’s business plan but it is depending on pop concerts to pull in cash. Last year’s Take That gig made the club £1m.

Mr Cumbes has predicted a tough future for county cricket clubs, forced to compete in the England and Wales Cricket Board’s bidding policy to host test match cricket but without other sources of revenue to cover the expense.
