Beer well worth Czech-ing out

CZECH brew Tankové Pivo, translated as Tank Beer, has landed in Manchester.

For the first time, drinkers in the city are being offered the true taste of the hallowed cellars in the Budweiser Budvar brewery at the Oast House in the heart of Spinningfields.

The New World Trading Company’s Oast House has been chosen as the first Budweiser Budvar Tankové Pivo site outside of London.

The unpasteurised beer is already making an impact in Manchester, with 5,700 pints sold in the first week of operation, which makes it the most successful launch to date.

To give a further taste of the Czech Republic culture, The Oast House recommends a deli board to complement the unique taste of Tankové Pivo including Shorrock’s two-year aged Lancashire cheese, potato salad, white cabbage coleslaw and prosciutto ham.

Warren Mccoubrey, beer guru at The New World Trading Company said: “To be chosen as the first site outside of London for Tankové Pivo tastes sweet for the team at The Oast House.

“Many of our discerning drinkers know the brewery and have already raised a few tankards to the arrival of the tanks. We are excited to share our Budweiser Budvar Tankové Pivo with those guests who have yet to experience the taste from the hallowed cellars of Budweis. We’re sure they won’t be disappointed.”

Jo Miller, beer sommelier, said:  “Put simply this brewery is the real deal – no marketing smoke and mirrors and no short cuts to brewing.

“When they say the finest ingredients, they mean it. Brewing is a matter of national pride and it shows.

“Bringing Budweiser Budvar Tankové Pivo to The Oast House brings a little piece of the brewery that those in the know adore to the heart of Manchester and I for one can’t wait to return.”
