MIPIM 2011: Birmingham attracts over 900 delegates

MORE than 900 delegates have been given an insight this week into how Birmingham’s property industry and business leaders will develop the city over the coming years.

Business Birmingham, the new inward investment arm of Marketing Birmingham, teamed up with 19 partners at international property conference MIPIM in Cannes to showcase the city.

Among the key highlights were the news that the hunt has started for a joint venture partner for a £35m development at Birmingham Science Park Aston and Rider Levett Bucknall securing a deal with the State Bank of India.

Business Birmingham, organising the city’s presence at MIPIM for the first time, hosted a series of events and met delegates from across the property world at its stand.

“The Big City Plan, our blueprint for investors to see how the city will develop over the next 20 years, our vision for improving the city’s transport network and connections, with the runway extension at Birmingham airport and High Speed2, made for a compelling offer for delegates at the conference.

“I am looking forward to progressing some of the connections we have made this week.”

Further details from the event will be published on Business Birmingham’s website.
