Ground will be broken within weeks for the construction of what will become Birmingham’s tallest residential tower after the developer appointed John Sisk & Son to deliver the 42-storey skyscraper.

Moda Living has selected the Irish construction company for the landmark project on Broad Street opposite, and to tower above, the two Bank towers which have been built.

Moda Living is a joint venture between Caddick Group and Generate Land that is backed by Apache Capital. The business is on track to finish a 35-storey development in Manchester this summer and it has a development pipeline of 7,000 apartments across 10 UK cities.

Tony Brooks, managing director at Moda Living, said: “Birmingham is a key city for Moda – as the UK’s fastest growing regional city and the number one city to relocate to from London. Our aim is to provide high quality housing to match the city’s ambition and growth.”

The £184m development will offer properties of up to three-bedrooms and long-term rents of up to five years.

2one2 Broad Street is designed to have 481 apartments and includes a 200m podium running track.

More than half of the 60,000 sq ft podium is dedicated communal space, including residents’ lounge, health and wellness zones, co-working space and a dining club. There will also be ground floor commercial spaces.

Guy Fowler, regional managing director at John Sisk & Son, said: “We look forward to working in partnership with all our stakeholders and in particular the local community to create a lasting legacy. As a family-owned business we are committed to people and that is what makes us successful in delivering complex projects.”

Work is due to start imminently, with completion expected in 2022.
