Wade Lyn selected as Prince’s business ambassador

HRH The Prince of Wales has appointed Wade Lyn, managing director of Cleone Foods in Birmingham, as his 2010 Prince’s Ambassador in the West Midlands.

The award is made in recognition of his leadership and commitment to responsible business in the region.

The Prince’s Regional Ambassador is one of Business in the Community’s Awards for Excellence 2010 and recognises individual leaders who understand that being a responsible business is about being sustainable and successful, as well as supporting local communities so that they are sustainable, healthy places where people can prosper and thrive.

In a recorded message to the West Midlands awards event, held at Birmingham Town Hall, the Prince said: “Wade Lyn is  widely respected as a business leader, community leader and champion of responsible business and I am delighted to make him my Business in the Community Ambassador for the West Midlands.”

Mr Lyn will now work directly with BITC to champion responsible business in the region.

David Darlaston, regional director of BITC said: “I am delighted that Wade has been recognised by HRH The Prince of Wales. Wade is a prominent business leader in his community and networks and has had a strong influence on the development of many business organisations encompassing under-represented groups in the region.”

Mr Lyn chairs the 12/8 Group – a unique peer to peer business group of Afro-Caribbean businesses committed to supporting start-up entrepreneurs.

Cleone Foods manufacture Island Delight Jamaican patties and slices and are based in Hockley.
