Noddy Holder backs Marie Curie’s Big Build Appeal

SLADE frontman Noddy Holder is to act as quiz master and host for the 11th annual Birmingham Brain Game to raise money for Marie Curie’s Big Build Appeal to create a new hospice in the West Midlands.

The Walsall-born entertainer will oversee the efforts of 60 teams from local businesses that have now entered this prestigious event taking place at The International Convention Centre in Birmingham on November 1.

BHSF Group, the not-for-profit healthcare insurer and benefits supplier, continues its sponsorship of the Birmingham event with Santander Corporate Banking sponsoring the champagne reception.

Marie Curie needs to raise another £3.4m to build and equip its new hospice. The money will help provide care in the hospice itself and for people across the region who want to remain in their own homes.

The new Marie Curie Hospice will support hundreds more patients and their loved ones with high quality care in a comfortable environment.

Event organiser Susan White said: “We are thrilled Noddy has agreed to host our event which is always a hugely popular and successful evening and last year raised over £120,000.”

Property professionals’ charity drive

IN the third Jones Lang LaSalle Charitable Classic and Sports Car Reliability Run, staff from the firm joined up with other property professionals to raise money for The Royal British Legion.

Nearly 40 cars signed up for the annual event which started with bacon sandwiches at Rybrook’sHockley Heath site and travelled 220 miles through the Brecon Beacons, ending up back at The Boot pub in Lapworth.

Steve Massey from London & Cambridge Properties, Richard Smith from Opus Land and Dean Whittaker from Pricewaterhouse Coopers were amongst some of the names taking part.

Organiser Gethin Chislett from Jones Lang LaSalle said “Once again we got a fantastic turn out and have so far raised over £2,000 with cheques still coming in.  Remarkably the weather was sunny and settled, so we weren’t battling through rain which was an added bonus.”

Peter Hemus from Rybrook said: “It’s a fantastic day out with a wide variety of classic sports cars and raises some much needed money for a very worthwhile cause. We hope that we can be part of the event again next year.”
