Scott Arms Properties builds for the future after £1.2m funding package

A BIRMINGHAM property development company is constructing its first site of new build houses after securing a £1.2m funding package.

Scott Arms Properties, which was established in 2011, is building 22 properties at a plot on Amie Lane, Great Barr. The homes include 10 three-bedroom houses and 12 two-bedroom apartments.

The business has employed builder Peter Jennings Ltd to complete the development alongside a team of sub-contractors. The 30 workers have constructed half of the planned properties at the 1.4 acre site.

Scott Arms Properties received a boost last month when the firm was named the Midlands and Wales winner in the Premier Guarantee Excellence Awards Medium Development of the Year category, which recognises exceptionally designed properties that improve the standard of living for homeowners.

Once the Amie Lane site is completed the business, which has already sold its first house on the development, is looking to identify a new plot of land in the Great Barr area for its next project.

Phil Tangri, director at Scott Arms Properties, said: “We chose the Amie Lane site for our inaugural development because of the fantastic transport links it provides buyers, as well as its ideal location near a great selection of shops and local amenities.

“The builders are now fitting the internal layout in the remaining unfinished properties, and interest from potential buyers has been strong. Winning this hotly-contested award has topped a great year for the business, and has spurred us on to find the next site to add to our portfolio.

“The support of the team at Lloyds TSB Commercial has been instrumental to the progress of the project and has enabled us to build quality homes for househunters looking to settle in the area. The funding has provided a lot of work for the local community in a time of uncertainty for the property sector.”

Darren Billinge, relationship manager at Lloyds TSB Commercial, said: “Scott Arms Properties recognised the need for new, affordable housing in Great Barr built to exceptionally high standards, and buyers are responding positively to its arrival in the area.

“The business has employed a team of award-winning builders at the site, and the combined hard-work and commitment displayed at the development was quickly recognised by a market-leading industry body.”
