Software firm brings 400 jobs to Birmingham

A LEADING UK software and IT services supplier has officially launched its new Birmingham office, in a move that has brought 400 jobs to the city.

Advanced, formerly Advanced Computer Software Group, is the third largest software provider to the UK market.

It was announced in December that the group was taking 45,000 sq ft of space at the newly-refurbished Mailbox.

The deal, which has seen the company take out the entire third floor of the iconic building, is one of Birmingham’s largest commercial accommodations on a single floorplate.

Advanced is currently undergoing a large transformation, which includes the launch of a major talent acquisition programme creating 1,000 roles over the next 18 months.

The high potential entry level programme is designed to attract Britain’s best talent. It is open to graduates and non-graduates alike who want to pursue a career in IT.

The programme’s target is to attract a minimum of 50% of all new employees.

Advanced employs 2,000 people and has a customer base of more than 20,000 organisations including Virgin Trains, Harvey Nichols, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Carewatch.

Gordon Wilson, chief executive of Advanced, said: “The launch of our new Birmingham office is a key milestone in our business growth strategy and the talent acquisition programme represents a great opportunity for individuals considering a career in IT.

“Birmingham is the clear choice given it has the UK’s largest regional urban economy and is the most popular destination outside the South East for mass millennial migration.”

Advanced has expanded at a significant rate and has grown into a £750m company in just eight years. Following its acquisition by Vista Equity Partners, in March 2015, the business has undergone significant transformation and investment to create a soild platform for additional growth.

The business is also completing a four stage programme of re-branding, relocation, restructure and recruitment.
