In Brief: New director at Graftongate, Colliers International appoint rating specialist and York Laurent opens new office.

New director at Birmingham’s Graftongate office

Director with Graftongate Jamie HockadayPROPERTY developer and asset manager Graftongate has a new addition to its team in Birmingham. Jamie Hockaday, left, joins the company’s Ludgate Hill offices as director from Cambridge company Wrenbridge where he was also a director. Mr Hockaday is charged with expanding the company’s industrial, office and retail operations across the Midlands – the firm also has an office in London – and joins a four-strong payroll. Mr Hockaday spent 10 years with Wrenbridge during which time he was responsible for the development of schemes in the Midlands totalling more than 2m sq ft and the opening of their Birmingham office.
Among his projects was the off-market site acquisition of Hams Hall, in Birmingham, for speculative development of 180,000sq ft, which was let to logistics firm Kuehne and Nagel and later sold to IM Properties.

Colliers expands ratings team with new recruit

Colliers International director Peter GouldREAL estate service firm Colliers International has strengthened its Birmingham rating team by appointing Peter Gould as a director. Mr Gould, left, joins the office in Brindleyplace from Gerald Eve in the city. He has over 20 years of commercial property experience and is a rating specialist, having spent 13 years at Gerald Eve, where his principal clients included Travis Perkins, Peugeot, Michelin and various universities. John Webber, national head of rating at Colliers International, said: “The additional experience that Peter brings to the Colliers rating team is already proving invaluable in view of the high volumes of work amongst existing, and new clients, to reduce rating assessments and liabilities. His arrival is a major coup for the team with his vast experience in rating, valuation and appeals across a range of national clients.”

Office and payroll expansion for letting agency

Marcel Woodhouse, co-founder and director of York LaurentRESIDENTIAL sales and letting agency York Laurent has opened a second office in Birmingham city centre at The Arcadian Centre. Four new staff have also joined the firm, which was founded in the Jewellery Quarter in 1998, bringing the total up to 16. Co-founder and director Marcel Woodhouse, left, said a booming lettings market and ambitions to serve New Street, Eastside and the Digbeth areas of the city had prompted the expansion. He said: “Our Hurst Street office is more readily placed to serve landlords and tenants in a wide variety of developments including Southside, Latitude, Rotunda, I-land and Mailbox. It’s also an exciting time for this area of the city, with new schemes such as The Cube coming on line, the redevelopment of New Street Station and exciting proposals to expand mixed-use and residential development in the Digbeth and Eastside areas.”
