RegenWM unveils its last-ever award winners

THE body set up to promote regeneration across the West Midlands has unveiled the winners of its last ever awards – the region’s Projects of the Decade.

RegenWM, which will close by the end of 2010 having fallen victim to cuts by Advantage West Midlands, recognised the best schemes of the past 10 years across six different categories.

The event was held at Millennium Point, in Birmingham, and was attended by the RegenWM board, judges and shortlisted companies.

Any project which took place during the past decade was eligible for entry.

The winners were:

Outstanding Place of the Decade
Electric Wharf, Coventry

Outstanding Housing Project of the Decade
Cross Street South, Wolverhampton

Rural Regeneration Initiative of the Decade
The Willows, Uttoxeter

Community Engagement of the Decade
New Heights Warren Farm Community Project, Kingstanding

Economic Development Project/Programme of the Decade
Fort Dunlop, Birmingham

Regeneration Team of the Decade
Willenhall Community Forum Ltd

A new category was introduced in this year’s scheme for an emerging issue which may offer a way forward for regeneration called ‘Procurement in Regeneration’ which went to finditinsandwell.

There was also the presentation of the chairman’s prize which went to a particular project that he or she most admires.

This year the trophy went to Pride in Camp Hill, Nuneaton.
