Yorkshire Business Masters 2011: Yorkshire Ambassador

THEBUSINESSDESK.com’s Yorkshire Business Masters 2011 will recognise an ambassador who has made the greatest contribution to business in Yorkshire.

The region boasts a host of heavyweight business people who have helped put the area on the global stage and the Yorkshire Business Masters will celebrate those achievements.

The category, won last year by Yorkshire International Business Convention founder and organiser Mike Firth, who is a judge for this year’s awards, is again sponsored by accountancy firm KPMG.

Iain Moffatt, KPMG’s Leeds office senior partner, said: “KPMG is once again proud to sponsor the Yorkshire Business Masters’ Yorkshire Ambassador category. Since the 2010 awards event, businesses around the region have continued to experience the most testing of economic conditions.

“However stability is generating the return of confidence to many businesses in Yorkshire and despite concerns about spending cuts and the strength or otherwise of the economic revival, there are more signs of activity, as a number of our clients are once again planning for growth and in some cases undertaking far reaching strategic reviews in order to invest in the right area for success through the next economic cycle.

“This is particularly good news given the spotlight is on the private sector in the region to see how it can help bridge the gap created by the reduction in government spending. Thankfully, there are most certainly Yorkshire based businesses which, despite everything, are performing strongly.

“Last year’s Masters recognised excellence in tough times and I am already looking forward to this summer’s event, which will no doubt showcase those enterprises which are stepping up to the plate in generating new opportunities for employment and wealth creation.

“In the Yorkshire Ambassador category I am anticipating fierce competition as we have many business leaders who demonstrate, on a day-to-day basis, a hugely valuable contribution to the region in parallel with striving for prosperity for their company.

“I have no doubt that this year’s winner will be excellent standard-bearer for the region.”

The Yorkshire Business Masters 2011 takes place on June 16 at Aspire, in Leeds.

Starting at noon, the event begins with a champagne reception, followed by a three course lunch accompanied by fine wine.

Tickets are priced £125 plus VAT each and are sold in pairs.
