YIBC ‘lacked wow factor’ – Firth

YORKSHIRE International Business Convention founder Mike Firth has promised to bring the ‘wow factor’ back after suggesting this year’s event fell short of expectations.
In a frank letter sent to many of those who attended YIBC this year, he said his conclusion was “could have done better” and admitted the Harrogate International Centre, hosting the event for the first time “lacked a little atmosphere”.
He was also critical of his own performance as master of ceremonies, describing himself as “past his sell by date” and apologising for a joke he told at the event.
But with next year’s event in mind he promised “an inspirational programme and the ‘wow’ factor we missed this year.”
Speaking to TheBusinessDesk.com, Mr Firth said: “The venue didn’t work very well. A couple of the speakers didn’t work very well and I got a bit carried away and told an inappropriate joke. Putting it all together I felt I hadn’t done a good enough job for people.
“I just wanted to let people know that we weren’t happy about it and we will do better next year.”
Mr Firth confirmed the event will be moving to Leeds in 2012 and said he would be in a position to unveil further details of the new look YIBC in the autumn.
