Funding deal takes care of nursery company’s expansion plans

An expanding East Yorkshire childcare business has bought a new premises to launch an out of school club after securing bank funding in a move which will create a number of jobs.

Wellybobs Day Nursery was established in 2010 by directors Richard and Lucy Taylor and Clifton and Tina Bland. Located at Barn Hill Farm in Howden, the nursery provides care for children from birth to five years old.

The directors say that demand has been so high the business is now launching a new out of school club called The Tree House in new premises they have bought adjacent to their existing property.

Lucy Taylor said: “Good childcare is crucial for any child’s learning and development and we strive to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment for the children and their families. Demand for the first nursery has been so high that it seemed logical to expand to provide a further child care places in a new out of school club which will provide care for around 40 children.

“We will also use the new premises between 9am and 3pm to provide 24 pre-school places which will help with pre-school children who qualify for the extra 15 hours funding. The business only launched in 2010 so we’re delighted that we’ve been able to expand so quickly and that Barclays were able to help with the funding.”

Wellybobs Day Nursery already employ 21 staff and with the new plans will be taking on an additional four employees.

James Lee, business banking manager at Barclays who put together the funding package for the deal and said: “It’s great to see a business investing for the future and contributing to the local economy. Wellybobs Day Nursery is a great example of a well-run business and we were delighted to be able to support the second site and further growth plans. The future looks bright for this ambitious business.”
