Plans in for regenerative 131-apartment tower

Developers have submitted plans for a major new apartment development in the Neepsend area of Sheffield.

Sheffield Council will deliberate on plans for the 131-apartment development, which is currently home to Bubbles Car Wash at the junctions of Mowbray Street, Chatham Street and Pitsmoor Road, directly opposite the popular Riverside pub.

It will deliver 131 one and two and bedroom apartments and studios along with two street level commercial units.

The nine-storey complex would also feature parking spaces and a central courtyard and garden area.

If Sheffield councillors approve the plans, work could begin on the site as soon as 2018.

“This has been a challenging site for us to work on, mainly because of the unusual shape of the land and the complexity of the gradient,” said Coda director Matt Bowker.

“But we have worked very closely with the council’s planners and created something that we believe will become a genuine landmark.

“Following the success of so many Coda projects in the Kelham Island area, Neepsend is the logical progression and one that we feel will prove to be as popular in the long term with both buyers and renters who want to enjoy all the advantages of living so close to the city centre.”
