London corporate finance house brings in Morrisons chairman

London corporate finance house Clearwater International has hired Morrisons executive Andy Higginson has its UK chairman.

He is currently chairman of ITC Luxury Travel, a luxury tour operator, as well as Morrisons, and a non-executive director of Woolworths South Africa.

Prior to his role at Morrisons, Higginson was chairman of Poundland under Warburg Pincus ownership and through its successful IPO, and tallied up 15 years on the board of Tesco.

Other notable past roles include the appointment as chairman of N Brown, the fashion retailer behind brands including Jacamo, Simply Be and JD Williams. Last week it was announced that he would be leaving the plus-sized and over-50s fashion retailer after five years.

He is also a non-executive director positions at Sky, Firstgroup and the RFU; and working with major brands including Unilever, Guinness, Laura Ashley and The Burton Group.
