Duo of businesses sign up to Leeds Dock as £32m sale looms

Two businesses have signed up to Leeds Dock just a month after Allied London announced a sale of the site for £32m.

The waterside digital and creative community to the east of the proposed South Bank development houses 650 Sky staff at their Leeds hub, as well as being home to the Royal Armouries museum.

Global consulting, engineering and construction company MWH, now part of Stantec, is relocating its 45-strong Yorkshire office from Wakefield to Leeds.

They are joined by digital agency Pinpoint Designs, which is moving its team of 12 from Harrogate.

They will take the final space in the fully-let 23,000 sq ft Block E. 2,000 people are currently employed at Leeds Dock.

Allied London bought a 150-year lease at Leeds Dock (formerly Clarence Dock)at a cut price in 2012, when most of its retail units were empty. It announced it was selling the site for £32m last month.

Louis Quartly, principal consultant, MWH said: “Moving to Leeds Dock is vital in achieving our ambition of attracting leading digital talent to help us to deliver the major infrastructure projects of the future and we’re delighted to become part of this thriving tech community.”

Lewis Sellers, managing director at Pinpoint Designs said: “Our success has been the result of growing a team of talented, creative and dedicated experts and moving to Leeds Dock ensures we can continue to attract the best people and continue to grow our team. It will also be fantastic to part of a creative and digital hub with other digital, PR and marketing agencies.”

Yoga Hero and North Star have both expanded in the past year, with Yoga Hero taking on 4000 sq ft of space, with North Star Coffee Roasters opening a new coffee shop and general store.

Tim Gee, estates director of Leeds Dock, said: “Our vision since we acquired Leeds Dock in 2011 has been to create a thriving hub for creative, digital and technology firms and it’s wonderful to see two more businesses joining our community who share our vision.

“Both MWH and Pinpoint have recognised Leeds Dock as the place to attract new talent, joining many other businesses in the community that are prospering here.

“For Leeds Dock to thrive it’s been essential to create a holistic environment for everyone who is based here and the success of this can be seen in the expansion of both Yoga Hero and North Star. Both businesses feed the life and soul of Leeds Dock, making it a great place to live, work and spend time in.”

WSB Property Consultants LLP represented Allied London, CBRE represented MWH and Pinpoint Designs represented themselves.
