Harrogate biomanufacturer gets six-figure funding

Harrogate-based biomanufacturer BioClad has secured a six-figure funding package with which it is planning to grow revenues by 20% in the next 12 months.

BioClad was established in 2008 and specialises in creating hygienic spaced using antimicrobial products for the pharmaceutical, retail and leisure industries, amongst others.

The business recently won the prodigious Queen’s Award for international trade and it works with a number of international brands including McDonalds, Starbucks and Virgin Atlantic.

It said it has seen a 2,000% increase in revenue since 2011 and global sales accounting for 25% of its £10m turnover.

BioClad is now expanding into Australia which support from HSBC. It expects to grow its revenue by 20% over the next 12 months as a result and has plans to grow its staff to meet health demand from its customers in the UK and overseas.

Phil Look, HSBC’s area director of North Yorkshire, said: “We recently launched a £1 billion lending fund to support SMEs in Yorkshire realise their ambitious growth plans. We look forward to seeing the business grow further with its expansion to Australia.”
