Developer submits plans for South Bank scheme

Oakapple Group has submitted a planning application to build a 215 apartment build-to-rent development in the south bank area of Leeds.

The Leeds-based developer is seeking permission to develop a ten-storey block with basement car park and residents’ facilities on their Sweet Street site.

It has begun marketing for an investment partner for the development through Allsop and LIV and discussions are already underway with a number of interested parties.

The area, which forms part of the Holbeck Urban Village, a key area of the south bank regeneration initiative, has seen a number of high profile transactions completed.

With further projects planned, chairman of Oakapple Group, Philip Taylor believes the time is right to develop the site.

“It has been extensively reported that the central Leeds residential market is experiencing high levels of take-up and is suffering from limited stock levels,” he said.

“We are very excited at the opportunity this area of the city provides and the quality of the scheme we can deliver.”

A start on site during late Spring 2018 is anticipated.
