Former city council offices fully let

The former offices of York City Council are now fully let following the arrival of the latest tenant.

RotaCloud, which develops web-based employee-scheduling software, has signed a 10-year lease for 2,742 sq ft at the Grade II listed building, 20 George Hudson Street.

The deal means that all office space at the 23,091 sq ft property has been fully let leaving one 1,200 sq ft retail unit available on the ground floor.

The office accommodation is spread over the first, second and third floors and is also home to software company My Knowledge Map, engineering consultancy Halcrow, and bus operator First York.

20 George Hudson Street offers Grade A space and has been extensively refurbished by owners Property Alliance Group.

Rob Peill, head of offices at Alliance said: “We’ve made a significant investment in this building to bring it up the high standard required by businesses in the area. With such a lack of supply of quality office space in York, the refurbished space has attracted a lot of interest from companies of all sizes, resulting in a steady flow of deals.”

Joel Beverley, co-founder of RotaCloud said: “We are absolutely thrilled with the new office space, and are excited about the opportunities that our new city centre location presents.

“George Hudson Street is conveniently located for both our team and visiting clients. RotaCloud is a rapidly growing company and the abundance of floorspace that we have here will prove vital in the coming months and years. We’re very happy to be here.”

Lawrence Hannah and CBRE are joint agents for the scheme.
