Starbucks brews up at retail park

Starbucks has been announced as the newest tenant at Abbey Retail Park in Leeds.

The coffee chain will occupy the 2,571 sq ft unit 2 at the scheme after planning was secured for conversion of the A1 unit.

The park is home to occupiers including Halfords, Carphone Warehouse and Carpetright.

The site benefits from a catchment of around 330,000 residents and is set to benefit from the development of 1,000 new homes at Kirkstall Forge, say agents Savills and Pudney Shuttleworth, which advised Fortlands on the Starbucks deal.

There is currently an opportunity for a retail or leisure occupier to lease 4,478-8,130 sq ft.

Josh Howe, associate director in the retail team at Savills Leeds, said:  “We are delighted to have secured Starbucks as the newest occupier at Abbey Retail Park. The park is well placed in Leeds out of town retail offering, being easily accessible and benefiting from a wide catchment area.”

Michael Pudney, director at Pudney Shuttleworth, Leeds, added: “This is a significant letting.  Starbucks will offer a new dimension to the retail park, by providing a leisure activity amongst a retail environment, improving both dwell times and the shopping experience.
