People: Templand Group appoints new COO; Two barristers named as Queens Counsel; and more

The Templand Group has announced the appointment of Ian Bell as Chief Operating Officer.

Based in Sheffield, Templand Group businesses include ITI Network Services, ITI Electrical Services and Newline Communications.

Bell’s career has spanned across information technology, refrigeration, catering, and food service industries.

His remit is to provide “dynamic and objective support” to the board and employees across all Templand Group businesses.

Jason Denmark, Templand Group CEO, said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Ian Bell as Group COO. Ian’s position supports our long term intention to invest both in the group businesses and the people who are most instrumental within them.

“Ian’s position will provide dynamic and objective support for each director and individual members of the senior management team. Alongside this he will develop Group ambassadorial duties and provide further support within business planning.

“His extensive experience will help drive performance measures through growth and will be instrumental to not only the Templand Group’s development, but individual personal development, which is essential for the continual success of the Group.”

Leeds-based barristers set Kings Chambers has two barristers appointed to the Queens Counsel.

On the recommendation of The Lord Chancellor, Her Majesty The Queen has appointed Sarah Pritchard and Giles Cannock to be Queen’s Counsel.

Pritchard, who was called to the bar in 1993 is an expert in Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury. She is known for her work in birth injury clinical negligence cases as well as personal injury trauma cases involving acquired brain injury.  

Cannock, who was called to the bar in 1998, is one of the highest ranked Planning Barristers in the country and has a track record of representing developers and local authorities in relation to major housing schemes, infrastructure projects, retail and significant renewable energy schemes.

They will both be sworn-in at an exclusive ceremony to be held at The Palace of Westminster on Monday 11 March.

Chief Clerk, Bill Brown said: “This is a tremendous personal achievement for Sarah and Giles whose appointments are richly deserved. It is a true measure of Giles’ hard-work and proficiency that he has been recognised as one of the stars at the Planning Bar”.

Leeds law firm 3volution has appointed two new partners, Samantha Wragg and Amy Wright.

Wragg, who works in the commercial litigation team, joined 3volution in 2012. She focusses on specialist contentious areas including financial services disputes, reputation management and defamation and pension litigation.

Wragg has represented clients in a variety of contractual and tortious disputes across a range of different sectors such as IT, manufacturing, food and leisure, logistics and financial services.

She regularly advises individuals, employers, trustees and representative beneficiaries in pension disputes, and has a particular expertise in contentious probate and trust disputes.  

Wright, who works in 3volution’s Corporate team, has also been promoted. She joined the firm in 2013 and advises clients ranging from SMEs to full and AIM listed companies.

Whilst she has experience in all areas of corporate work, her particular focus is on debt and equity funding, corporate re-organisations, reconstructions and mergers and acquisitions.

Wright has assisted a number of start-up and early stage companies with their investment funding including crowd funding and angel investment funding.

York Professionals has strengthened its representation of the property and finance sectors with the appointment of three new board directors.

Richard Peak, managing director of The Helmsley Group, Jackie Senior, Garbutt + Elliott director, and Jonathan Doyle, senior manager at Clive Owen LLP, have taken up positions on the York Professionals board this month.

York Professionals represents the city’s professional services economy in the business support, creative and digital, finance, legal, marketing, people and property sectors.

The role of the board directors is to help deliver York Professionals’ strategic objectives.
