Companies form partnership to launch UK’s largest provider of industrial heat exchanger solutions

A new partnership between two Yorkshire-based companies has formed the UK’s largest provider of design, manufacture and support services for heat exchanger and boiler equipment for manufacturers.

The combined group of Green’s and Thornhill comprises multiple UK sites, which offer in-house design, fabrication, testing, repair and refurbishment complemented by on-site inspections, repairs and installation.

Based in Wakefield, Green’s has been designing and manufacturing industrial boiler equipment since 1821. With a turnover of £11.8m and 55 employees, Green’s has an 8,500 sq m factory that has shipped products weighing some 5,000 tonnes to 15 countries last year.

Thornhill, which has sites in Barnsley, the North East and the Midlands, employs around 150 people and is expecting group turnover to hit £15m in 2019.

The company is the only UK provider of the complete cycle of heat exchanger services encompassing design, engineering, installation, repairs and servicing.

Matthew Crewer, Green’s managing director, said: “Our international business has grown significantly over the past two years and now accounts for two thirds of our turnover.

“We see the opportunity to bring Thornhill’s tried and tested heat exchanger technology and services to our customers in the UK and overseas as a great addition to our existing product range.”

Simon Tin, Thornhill’s managing director, added: “We work in the same industries as Green’s so to be able to offer our current and prospective customers a broader range of products and services will add significantly to the value we can provide.”
