Leeds Girls’ High School site hits market

A MAJOR six acre site, made up of the main areas of the former Leeds Girls’ High School buildings, has been put on the market.

Fox Lloyd Jones, which is marketing the site in Headingley, Leeds, said The Leeds Grammar School and Leeds Girls’ High School Foundation has recently secured outline planning consents for the main school site.

The permission is for a part conversion / part new build residential scheme comprising a mixture of 97 apartments and townhouses.

Fox Lloyd Jones said the site “offers a unique opportunity to create a high quality living environment with extensive and attractive green open space / mature trees and character buildings”.

It is made up of a number of listed buildings which have most recently been used as the backdrop for Monroe, a medical drama series shown on ITV.

Paul Fox, director at Fox Lloyd Jones in Leeds, said: “This is a truly unique opportunity offering mixture of new build and conversion in a wonderful mature setting.

“It is rare to have a six acre site situated in an established residential suburb offering potential to appeal to a wide range of home owners from family groups to young professionals.”

The site is adjacent to another site in the school’s ownership on Victoria Road which comprises the school’s former sports centre and swimming pool.

Plans to build houses, flats and a convenience store on the facilities were withdrawn last month.

Leeds Girls’ High School moved to share a site with Leeds Grammar School in Alwoodley, Leeds, several years ago.
